Deleting your Readbird account
You can delete your Readbird account and all your data at any time, on your own and without contacting support.
What gets deleted
- Notes, highlights and labels — along with any images you attached to them
- Subscriptions, folders and saved articles
- Reading history, settings and notification subscriptions
- The account itself and its sign-in
Deletion happens immediately and IRREVERSIBLY: once confirmed, the data cannot be restored. If you might need it, download it first — Settings has a "Download my data" button (JSON and Markdown).
How to delete
- Open Readbird and sign in to your account.
- Open "Settings".
- Find the "Delete account" section and press "Delete account".
- Type your account email and confirm the deletion.
Backups
Data disappears from the live database immediately. Database backups are kept for disaster recovery and rotate on a schedule: daily backups for 14 days, weekly ones for 8 weeks. Your data is not retained anywhere beyond 8 weeks, and the backups are not used for any other purpose.
Can't access your account?
Restore access via "Forgot password?" on the sign-in screen — a link will be emailed to your account address. Then delete the account in Settings as described above.
If that didn't help, email us from the address the account is registered to: support@readbird.app
