Terms of Service
Last updated: 17 August 2026
These terms apply to Readbird — a reading app available on the web and on Android. By creating an account you agree to them.
Readbird is an individually run project in active development, offered as it is, without a service-level promise. Its core features are currently available at no charge; paid plans with additional features may be introduced later — their prices and terms will be published separately, and nothing will be charged without your explicit consent.
Your account
- One account belongs to one person. Keep your sign-in method secure — anyone with access to it has access to your library.
- You must be at least 16 years old to use Readbird.
- You can delete your account at any time, in Settings or via the public page /delete-account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
Content from feeds and third parties
Readbird shows content published by other people: articles from the feeds you subscribe to, and embedded players (for example YouTube) where the publisher offers them.
- That content belongs to its authors and publishers. Readbird does not claim rights to it and does not re-host their media.
- Readbird fetches exactly what your own browser would fetch. It does not bypass paywalls, does not send your cookies or credentials to third-party sites, and does not retry requests that were refused.
- Complaints about a specific piece of content are best addressed to the site that published it. If a feed must be removed from Readbird, write to the address below.
What you may not do
- Use Readbird to break the law, or to infringe someone else’s rights.
- Attempt to access other users’ data, or to bypass the technical limits of the service.
- Automate the service in a way that puts a disproportionate load on it, or resell access to it.
Your content
Your notes, highlights, labels and attached images remain yours. Readbird stores them to show them back to you and to synchronise them between your devices, and does not publish them anywhere. You can export everything at any time (Settings → “Download my data”).
Availability and changes
Readbird is under active development: features appear, change and occasionally disappear. The service can be interrupted for maintenance or by a failure of one of the providers it depends on.
These terms may change as the product changes. The date at the top of the page shows when they were last updated.
No warranty and limitation of liability
Readbird is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, including availability, absence of errors, or fitness for a particular purpose. It is not a backup service: keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose (the export button exists for exactly that).
To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including data loss, arising from use of the service. Liability for intent and gross negligence, and mandatory statutory liability, remain unaffected.
Ending the agreement
You may stop using Readbird and delete your account at any time. Access may be suspended if an account is used in breach of these terms or in a way that endangers the service or other users.
Applicable law
German law applies, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live.
